What Inspires You to Be Healthy?

I have been asking myself and others this, since as long as I can remember.  My name is Tiffany, and growing up, I always wanted to help others lead healthier lives.  I witnessed my family members’ and my own struggles with weight, chronic pain, and illness, but deep down inside, I knew we should wake up refreshed and energized each day.  I decided to embark on a quest to find the secret to healthy living so that one day I could share it with others.

My journey led me to study yoga, martial arts, massage therapy, herbalism, nutrition, and a variety of other health and wellness subjects from a young age.  I even studied t’ai chi, traditional Chinese medicine, and meditation at a Buddhist temple in China, where I learned the importance of “relaxation” to health and well-being.

As I grew older, I became a passionate 10,000-steps-per-day and walking/wearable activity tracker advocate, as these helped me to lose significant weight and to keep it off.  I sought to promote movement nationally, by starting walking groups in major cities and by launching a mobile app to help people find walking partners.

My passion for promoting healthy living led me to begin earning my MS in Health and Wellness Management and my Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate.  This came after a decade spent coaching customers, staff, and community daily, while serving as a general manager of health food stores and supplement departments.
